Katrina slaps us awake

Imagine being in a daze and a loved one faces you with concern and says, "Snap out of it!" This admonition is to bring you out of shock and complacency. Katrina is the proverbial wake-up call to America and the world. All of "developed" and developing countries are now at the dire doorstep of global warming and its complex, intricated mechanics. Asia, Europe, and now the Western hemisphere are now at the mercy of larger global forces and powers that are ready to unleash violent, blind, and indifferent reaction to our material onlsaughts. It's as if the planet is a lumbering giant with a consciousness that is extremely aware of assaults on its skin -- and willing to "clean house" to survive. Earth (the planet) will survive. We (humans) may not. Global warming is a virus of human origin. Earth will heal itself at our expense. New Orleans is a sore on the planet's skin. Hang on, Humanity. The bumpy ride is just now beginning. The road from now on will get worse and worse. Watch the leaders be led by invisible forces way beyond their control. They will be humbled as never before. Pray -- even if you're unfortunate to suffer from non-belief in a Power greater that yourself. Love those close to you. Find peace and work to help others and shine the Light of Goodness that is the better side of humanity.
